The Month of Quran / By: Rama AlAhmadi

One of the five pillars of Islam is fasting Ramadan, that is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the month on which the Quran was revealed. All Muslims should know the significance of this holly month. To begin with, Ramadan is the time of the year when people are encouraged to commit their most virtuous deeds in accordance with the Islamic belief that on Ramadan, deeds are amplified. Ultimately, people learn to be good, to be consistent in doing good, and maybe develop good habits that last a lifetime. Another point is that Ramadan isn’t only about fasting or doing good for both others and self, but it’s also about building a good relation with Allah. This distinguished spirituality of Ramadan evokes the deep Muslim belief that a good relationship with Allah is the only key to a happy and satisfactory life. As Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said," When there comes the month of Ramadan, the gates of mercy are opened, and the gates of Hell are locked and the devils are chained.”
