The True Meaning of Patriotism
—
In today’s world, it is common to see people who do not understand the value of their country. The national day should be the most important day in people’s lives especially for Saudis. First, Saudi Arabia is one of the few countries that offers a lot of opportunities for its people. For example, Saudi Arabia spends hundreds of millions on its education system because the primary education in Saudi Arabia is open to everybody for free. It also provides a free health care system for its people, and during Al Hajj season Saudi Arabia provides over thousand of free health services for pilgrims. Second, Saudi Arabia is interested in human rights and the government is improving the law of humanity day by day. In 2017, King Salman issued a statement recognizing the right of Saudi women to drive, and allowed them to get a driver's license at the age of 18. In 2019, King Salman also issued a statement recognizing the right of Saudi women to travel without male guardian permission. Lastly, the most important reason why all Muslims around the world, not just Saudis should feel proud of Saudi Arabia is that it is the heartland of Islam. Historically, it has a special place in the Islamic world by having the two holy mosques in Makkah and Al Madinah. Initiated by King Abdelaziz, Saudi leaders continued ongoing projects aimed at improving the quality of accommodation, and other services for the pilgrims to do the Hajj and Umrah easily and safely. In summary, Saudi Arabia has witnessed a lot of developments in a very short period, such as education, health, science, and technology. Furthermore, being a Saudi should be something to be proud of and to celebrate the national day proudly.
