Tips to Master a New Language/ By: Rand Maddah
Even though someone could believe that learning a new language is one of the most challenging tasks that he or she might experience, this task can be a piece of cake by applying the following fundamental steps. The first and most critical step is to set a goal and plan to achieve it wisely. This step requires stating the motivational purpose for learning a foreign language clearly, and placing a deadline for this mission. Writing the motivational purpose on a sticky note and hanging it on a mirror might have a significant effect of raising someone’s energy when feeling down. Choosing how to learn a language is another step that should not be missed. Some learners prefer an academic method when they learn a second language such as attending classes, doing homework, and having exams. On the other hand, some of them cannot stand this routine, so they teach themselves by applying some types of entertaining methods such as watching movies with subtitles, listening to songs, and translating new words while reading stories. Hence, selecting one of these methods will help with achieving excellent results fast. Next, someone must practice the language constantly. For example, learners can use social media such as Twitter, YouTube, or Facebook to chat with native speakers and practice speaking fluently about various topics using the vocabulary that they have learned. Indeed, the more someone practices a new language, the better he or she will be. The fourth step is for learners to allow themselves enough time when facing difficulties. Although it is hard sometimes to be patient, solving a problem requires time to determine the sources of the problem and think of an appropriate solution that can eliminate the root of the problem completely. In conclusion, following the previous steps will result in a mastering the new language sooner than you expected.
